Amazing April

The month began on a spiritaul feast after listening to General Conference and ended with a sigh of relief knowing we'd packed it full of events-------
Dale and I were able to see the Broadway Musical "CATS" preformed at our local Eclles Theatre. (One of the many benefits of wearing that white shirt, black bow tie, burgandy vest and black pants)
I had a visit with our Bishop and was given a new calling in our ward---I just acquired 95 new sisters!!! I'm feeling very humbled and dare I say overwhelmed? I'm sure I'll be the one who gains the most out of this new adventure.

Andrew had a break from his job and decided to fly home and load up their car and take his little family back with him. The seperation was just too hard on them. So, we got to see Andrew for a little bit and took advantage of his time here to fit in some fun.
We grabbed Garrett and Zandra and went to Crystal Hot Springs for the evening to soak, visit and picinic. It was good to get the "Garrett n' Andrew" talk going again.
I got to play Grandma and tend while they went to the temple and ran errands and then they loaded up the Volvo Wagon and headed out to go to Flordia where he met up with his work crew. I have to admire them, 40+ hours is a LONG time te be riding and driving in a car. Titan was a trooper and they survived.
Getting him to go back into his car-seat may be trick for awhile however.

With Danica off with her friends on a Spring Break get-away Dale and I decided to head to Oakley, ID and spend the weekend with the Mallory clan.
We helped them in their yard some  while the kids rode their bikes and played in the yard. Then we did an egg hunt for the kids. Jaxson and Kennlyn made a haul and loved it. We also colored and decorated Easter eggs to go into their baskets.

Easter morning we awoke to the thrill of all Easter brings. Another egg hunt, easter baskets full of suprises, dressing up for and going to church, dinner with family and enjoying the time together with those you love.

We also got to tour the home where Elder David B. Haight, a past apostle of the church grew up. The home is a block away from the Mallory's and a guy is restoring it and will be opening it up as a Bed & Breakfast Inn. Amie's been asked to manage it. We also toured another older home that's been restored that's just across the street from the Mallorys. We were glad we took the trip to spend time with our Idahoians.

For my DIBELS job I went to training sessions to learn how to test using ipads. This new technology sure can do a lot and is suppose to help make things easier and better. Time will tell I guess. I've also been going full-throttle with my new calling as well and helped my good friend Kathy Fishburn set-up and decorate for her daughters wedding. The Mallorys came to our turf and we all got to be with my niece and her husband (Jessie and Mondo DelToro) when they recieved their endowments and then were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple. Dale's dad, Keith Hansen, got to preform the sealing. It was so nice. What a special day for them.
I was glad we could be there.

We spent the afternoon with the Hansen crew---we had dinner at Dale's sisters and the kids had another egg hunt. Then we broke in our newly finished firepit and roasted hot dogs for supper. Can't get enough family time around here!

For Dale and my birthdays this month we decided to turn Dale's work trip into a birthday trip for us. He had a conference in Boston, MA so I tagged along. Alan and Marilyn Grunig also went, so we all made the most of it. However I think Marilyn and I got the most out of the deal.
Marilyn and I figured out the transit system and set out to follow the red brick line of the Freedom Trail. We definitely got in our exercise each day!

Day 1 was spent traveling.

Day 2  the trail took us to see the Old State House Museum, Old South Meeting House, King's Chapel, the Historic Burying Grounds, the Park Street Church, the new State House, Boston Commons and the Beacon Hill District where the rich live. We also followed the Black Heritage Trail around for a bit.

We went back to the hotel and caught up with the guys after they got out of their meetings and then headed back into town where we went to dinner in "Little Italy". When we were walking into the subway terminal we saw a HUGE rat scamper down the stairs and then it caught the escalator and headed up! I would say those rats know their way around! Our hotel is across the harbor, so we ended the evening by walking along the path that boarded the water. It was a nice sunny day out today, but the forcast calls for rain tomorrow. Rain or shine, we'll make the most of our stay.

Day 3  we all caught the conference shuttle at the hotel and went to an interfaith devotional and then to brunch with the USBA group. From there we headed back over the harbor and followed the Freedom Trail to the USS Constitution "Old Ironsides" ship. This ship was in the War of 1812.

We also went to Bunker Hill and claimed our kingdomship by climbing ALL  298 stairs to get to the top of the monument!

We ate at the famous Union Oyster House, where we got front row seats, seeing how they crack open the oysters was an eye-opener. Nothing better than a steaming bowl of fresh clam chowder after being soaked in the rain most of the day.We stopped and got some tempting patries at Mike's and then shared our picks with each other back at the hotel. It was a fun, full day and even though it was wet and cold Day we didn't let that stop us.

Day 4 The guys went to meetings and then we caught up with them for lunch. They took us to Anthony's on Pier 4 for some fine dining. Then we caught the subway and went into town and finished the Freedom Trail with them. The day was off and on rain, but we plowed on!We toured Paul Revere's house, the North Chapel (where the signal went out to warn of the British coming), the site of the Boston Massacre, Faneuil Hall and walked through the Boston Commons area again. That's where the children's book "Make way for the Duckings" was inspired. It also has the famous "Swan Boats". We would of gone for a ride, but the boats weren't open for the summer season yet so we just took a peek.

Day 5  We packed up and headed for home stopping in Denver for a lay-over where we grabbed a bite to eat and stretch out our legs. Garrett and Zandra took care of the homefront and we found all well.

Reality hit and it's back to the grind of working in and out of the home, keeping up the house and meeting the demands of whatever the day has in store.
April was pretty amazing!
